is a long time between posts. Too long to really even try to catch up on the going on’s in my life. So I guess I will start with the present. I just returned from a lovely garden party on Marine Drive. Most of the people there I did not know but the event itself held many things I was delighted with:
a lovely presentation of food and drink
warm sun on my back while sitting on the patio listening to a blue grass band
a well-loved and cared for garden
a quaint garden shed that served as the buffet house
old and new friends mingling while kids screamed with joy and want in the background
a jolly CJ who tried to explain the complexities of scotch whiskey to my sister and I
dessert for the night = a surprise gourmet pan of lasagna
a sweet little girl asking me if I knew where her mom was and when I asked her to describe her she said, “she has yellow flowers in her hair….” (priceless)
an arc of a rainbow above us as dusk drew close
the short drive home to our house…..
As I sit her now I have so much to be grateful for. I just read my “Lucy” post and ironically some of that still feels as fresh as when I wrote it 16 months ago and some of it feels as if I lived it in another life. I guess what matters is today and what I do with it. How I live for the moments given me and love those around me and enjoy the blessings that are everywhere if I would just open my eyes to see them?
God, give me strength to see and love well.
